Privacy policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

In short

Hunting Distance has no account, no tracking and no ads, and we collect no data about you. While the app is open it uses your location to measure the distance from you to a spot on the map. The calculation happens on your iPhone. Your location is not stored and is not sent to us. Aerial imagery and maps are loaded from Apple.

Your location

The app asks for access to your location "While Using the App". The location is used to calculate the distance from you to the spot you tap, and to show where you are on the map. It is used only while the app is open. The app does not read your location in the background.

Your location is handled in the app's memory on your iPhone and disappears when you close the app. The app has no server that receives your location.

What is sent to Apple

Aerial imagery and maps are shown with Apple's mapping service (MapKit). To load the imagery for the area you are looking at, your iPhone sends requests to Apple, which can include the map area you are viewing and your IP address. This happens directly between your iPhone and Apple and does not pass through us. What Apple does with the information follows Apple's privacy policy for maps and location services.

When you search for a place, your search text and the map area you are viewing are sent to Apple so Apple can find suggestions. This also happens directly between your iPhone and Apple. The app does not store your searches.

Apple receives no name, email or account from us. The app has none.

What we do not do

  • The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
  • We do not sell, rent or share information with anyone.

How long

We keep no information about you, so there is nothing for us to delete.
